Stable IT infrastructure for SaaS provider H&F Solutions: The German start-up H&F Solutions specializes in the innovative exchange of data. Their software product dara® revolutionizes the exchange of documents between business partners and their ERP systems through Intelligent Data Interchange (IDI). In order to be able to concentrate fully on the further development of their product, the H&F development team was looking for a reliable cloud infrastructure partner and found one in the Viennese company Timewarp IT Consulting GmbH. Timewarp's experience in building stable IT infrastructures for SaaS providers and operating them in a fail-safe manner tipped the scales. H&F Solutions was founded in 2018 by Philipp Futterknecht and Tobias Hertfelder and has branches in Germany and the USA with 25 employees. At the heart of the company is the dara® application. This automates the exchange of documents through Intelligent Data Interchange (IDI). In contrast to conventional EDI systems, which force data into fixed formats, dara® uses advanced technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence. dara® enables almost complete automation of document processing by intelligently filling data gaps, supplementing missing information and continuously learning from feedback. The patented data enrichment and self-learning feature largely eliminates the need for manual intervention and enables over 90% of document processing to be automated.
As a SaaS provider, H&F Solutions is heavily dependent on a stable IT infrastructure. An outage would mean that all customers would go offline, as the services are provided in the cloud. However, H&F Solutions wanted to focus on further development in the area of core domains. Although the company had extensive infrastructure expertise, a conscious decision was made to outsource the development and operation of a stable cloud infrastructure with a Kubernetes cluster.
After comparing various public and private cloud providers, the decision was made in favor of the Austrian cloud provider Timewarp.
Timewarp has extensive experience in setting up fully-managed Kubernetes clusters. As setting up such a cluster is often very time-consuming, many companies outsource this process. This was also an important criterion for H&F Solution before the go-live of their product. Equally important was Timewarp's consulting service on which workloads should run best in the Kubernetes cluster and how. As Timewarp hosts a business critical application for H&F Solutions, it is crucial that Timewarp is able to guarantee high availability and scalability. Another advantage of working with Timewarp is the ability to bypass vendor lock-ins.
In principle, a customized cloud solution based on the principle of no single point of failure was designed to provide H&F Solutions' applications for its customers. The dedicated multi-node Kubernetes cluster is fully managed, which ultimately saves time, money and nerves, as Timewarp's support team takes over in the event of incidents and changes. The solution is scalable in order to be able to react easily to growing demand. In addition, shared storage was integrated and other managed services were utilized to guarantee availability and scalability.
